Gotta show you my swap!

Hello friend!

This card is the one I made for my sister-in-law, Lori,  last week.  I liked it so much I decided to change the color scheme a little and make more for the swap this afternoon.

This card is based on one I saw made by another demonstrator, named Melissa Huie.  Here is her original card.

Almost ready to go!

Hello friend!

I'm leaving for the hotel at 3:00 p.m.  This is what my kitchen looks like!  I'm hoping it will all fit in the van....

I've got the supplies, and food, and surprises and everything (I hope) that I need to put together a 30 hour camp!  And if you are not one of the ones who are attending, think about it for next year.  We have too much fun!

Explore Your Creativity with Stampin' Up!

Hello friend!

While I'm having a great day being creative in the Stamp Cave, I'm not going to show you any of it!  Before you think I'm being selfish, I'll tell you I've been working on details, samples, and projects for my Overnight Stamp Camp this Friday and Saturday.  (If I'm on the ball this week, I'll prepare photos and info with a delay to post here while we are at the hotel.

Meanwhile, watch this lovely video of Shelli Gardner, and drool over all the amazing projects they will show you.  If you need help figuring a project out from the video, let me know.

Big Shot Quilting

Last week I had a Big Shot Quilt Class.  Three lovely ladies came over to learn a little more about how to cut fabric to make a Big Shot Quilt.  Now I'd like to make this into a class.  Details will be coming, so get ready for some sewing!

(and I really wish I had taken a couple photos that night!)

Ralphie Rooster

Hello friend!

You know how much fun I have with the Big Shot, and here is something I did last week using the Pennant Die that was definitely fun:

He's a pincushion, and he's also weighted so I can put him on the edge of the table to weigh down the handle of a plastic bag for scraps.  Now when I sew he is right there beside me as my right-hand man!

Red at night...

Hello friend!

You know the saying, "Red at night, sailor's delight.  Red in the morning, sailor take warning".  Well, I'm wondering what lavendar in the morning means....

I took this after it had already started to fade.  The really odd thing was that it wasn"t just in the east, but all around town (the photo was taken looking to the northwest).  I just hope lavendar doesn't mean "blizzard".

Many of you know that we are Pittsburgh Steelers fans.  Of course we are totally pumped up for the Super Bowl on Sunday!  To celebrate, I plan to wear the "correct" colors to work all week long. Today I wore black pants and a black turtleneck, but needed more color... so in about 10 minutes I made myself a Big Shot flower pin:

The buttons were "stolen" from my daughter's button collection (she's a good Pittsburgh fan, she didn't mind), and everything is hot glued together.  We found the fabric at JoAnn's yesterday... you'll probably see at least one more project made with it this week!

Have a great day!

T-shirt tote bags

Hello friend!

It has been a wonderful weekend (including a wonderful football game on Saturday--Go Steelers!) and I wanted to show you a couple things we did.

Natalie made these tote bags... from t-shirts!  It is a very quick, and easy project.  I showed her how to do the first one, and then she was ready to roll and made the second one all by herself.

Here you can see the opening a little better.  I found the instructions on Saturday when blog hopping (an addiction of mine).   This is a great video tutorial on making the tote bag.

Oops!  I have more to show you, but just looked at the clock and I've got to run...  I'll get more to you later!

How do you cheer yourself up?

Hello friend!

Well, today I should have left for Nashville, Tennessee to go to Stampin' Up's Leadership Conference.  I wasn't able to get registered however, because it sold out very quickly.... so my flight left without me.  :(    All considered, with the weather, I may not have been able to go even if I had a registration... but I'm still a little sad.   I have some simple plans to cheer myself up over the next couple of days, so you'll be seeing some of the results (stamping, sewing, shopping)

Here are some cards I made this afternoon.  The first one  uses a new set from the Occasions Mini Catalog called "Sew Suite".  As soon as I saw this set, I knew I had to have it, and then I saw a card made by Michelle Zindorf and had to copy it!  (click her for her amazing blog)

I'm posting a second "Sew Suite" card on my Facebook page, also.

Now, if you are a Browns fan, you might find the rest of my post a little disturbing....

Did you know that four out of our five family members are Pittsburgh Steeler fans?  (Nick was corrupted as a small child into being a Browns fan by my brother)  Well, this Saturday at 4:30 p.m. we have a playoff game against the Ravens, and I wanted to send Hannah a Pittsburgh card...  then ended up making three more cards for friends who have the good taste to cheer for my Steelers!  I'll post a couple here, and also on my Facebook page.

Actually, I'm just realizing that if you are a Browns fan, you have a dilemna this weekend.  Do you cheer for your arch rival (my fabulous Steelers) or for the team Art Modell created after ripping football from the heart of Cleveland (the dreaded Ravens)?  Hmmmmm.

                                                                    Hannah's card!

                                                                The back of the cards....

Dave's card!

I hope you enjoy these!

Big Shot Quilting, anyone?

Informational Quilt Class

Thursday, January 27, 2011, 7:00 p.m.
at Wendy's house!

Cost: free!

I’ve been having fun making quilts for my dining room this year, and I’d really like to share what I’ve learned with you.

On the 27th, I’ll have a display of my quilts and other fabric projects, and you will get to make a small fabric project of your own.

One of the things I’d LOVE to do is host a hands-on quilt class, but I’ve had a hard time deciding the details. I’m hoping you’ll be interested, too, and we can talk about what works for your schedule (bi-weekly? monthly? a day-long event?)

I hope you can join me on the 27th. You don’t need to bring supplies, but you do need to RSVP by the 25th.

You are invited....

Good morning!

This Saturday (the 4th), Trinity Lutheran has a Christmas Brunch for the ladies of our church.  We’ll have an awesome catered meal, musical entertainment, and two craft projects.  I purchased a table of 10, and have only one ticket left.  The cost is  $10.  If you are interested, please call my cell phone, 419-606-0943.  I’ll sell it to the first taker.

We got the first tree up!  This is my snowman/snow tree in the dining room... "beginning to look a lot like Christmas".

Oops, I did it again....

Hello friend.

Yesterday I thought I was doing so well.  Even though I'm just now mailing my November Hostess Club cards (sorry ladies) I was happy to have stamped a simple December Hostess Club card:

Can you guess what I did wrong?  (Well, normally this wouldn't be "wrong", but it isn't good for a Hostess Club Card.)  The striped "Bridesmaid" card stock is discontinued!  How did I miss the fact that it is not in our current catalog?  Errgghh!  Well, substitute another card stock, and it will still be a pretty card....  Add to that the fact that there is a quality control issue with the Ornament punch, and I suppose this was NOT a good card to send now.

Back to the drawing board to figure out what this month's card really will be!

Hey, remember me?

Hello friend!

Well, either you are back from Black Friday shopping, or (like me) you never left your house… but here is a wonderful opportunity for you to get great deals on Stampin’ Up’s products, at up to 50% off!  Go to my web page:  www.wendy.stampinup.net and click on the “ONLINE SPECTACULAR” link.  You’ll find great discounts on products and our Demonstrator Starter Kit.

There are all kinds of great deals, including 50% off on our fabrics!  I’m heading there now… but first I must show you this card.  A while back I posted a card I copied from my upline, Christine Vidourek.  At the time I could not find her original.  This morning I cleared about 500 old e-mails out of my in-box, and look what I found!
Since I was relying on memory when I made my card they are rather different, but each great in their own way.  Maybe it is better to copy without the original, so that you can make it your own!

Halloween.... finally!

Hello friend!

In August, I started this wall quilt.  Plenty of time to finish before Halloween, right?  (wrong)  I just got it finished last night, in time for it to hang all of about 3 hours on Halloween.  Oh well, guess I'll have it for next year!
(size: 42 inches X 15 inches)

The letters and prairie points were all cut with the Big Shot.  If you look closely,  you can see the spider (made of beads) in the right- hand corner, and the spider web quilting--which was inspired by our Spider Web Embossing Folder for the Big Shot.  I also added beads on the web, so as you walk past you see the light glinting off the web.

Now, on to November and December stuff!  I have an idea in my head for a turkey quilt block with the Big Shot.  Actually, I'm thinking it might be a fun "first" block to teach... care to come over and sew?  What I should just do is look at my calendar and set a date.... and get the idea out of my head and onto fabric!  :)

Announcing.... the next Overnight Scrap & Stamp!

Hello friend!

Finally, I've got dates set for the next Overnight Scrap & Stamp... and I've extended the hours!  Yippee!  We'll be back at the Holiday Inn Express on Friday, February 25, from 4:00 p.m. to Saturday, the 26th at 10:00 p.m.!  More details will follow, but my goal is to keep the price as close to last year's overnight as possible.  And remember, there is only space for 24.... so mark your calendar and start making plans!

Here's a card I made after I borrowed a Lattice die (see page 206 of the Idea Book) from Deb Loyd.  (Thanks, Deb!)  This is another die I think I will "have" to have.  The card was copied from one my upline, Chris Vidourek, sent in an e-mail--and I'd love to show you Chris's version, but I must have deleted that message.  If my memory serves me, this is fairly close to the original.

Have a great day!

Happy Birthday, Grover!

Hello friend!

The other day, Hannah sent me this link of a video spoofing those Old Spice commercials that I think is pretty funny.  (I'll admit it, Grover is pretty much my favorite of the Sesame Street characters--how can you resist Super Grover, "The Monster in the Mirror", or such a literary classic as "The Monster at the End of this Book"?)  So of course I decided to try making a Grover card with the Big Shot....  While looking for a photo of him, I ended up on Wikipedia--and there I learned that today is Grover's birthday!

Happy Birthday, Grover!
To make the ovals for his mouth and eyes I dug out my Coluzzle.  Pacific Point didn't seem the right blue, so I dug out some old Brilliant Blue for his head.  His nose probably should be more like the old Pink Passion, but here I used Regal Rose.

I should photograph the Elmo cards I made for last week's craft show, and post those another day.  :)
